Russian-Language Shabbat Club for Children 3 to 5 Years
Sep-11-09 - Jan-22-10
Generation R is excited to continue its new Friday program for children of Russian-speaking families. During this one-hour Shabbat-time class, children learn about Jewish holidays and traditions while preserving the Russian-language and embracing Russian-Jewish heritage. Pre-schoolers will experience Jewish identity through stories, discussions, special holiday songs, art and cooking. Each class will end with a special Shabbat ritual, blessings over the candles, juice and challah.
Classes will be taught in Russian by FSU-born early childhood educators who have worked with children from the Russian-speaking community in NY. Throughout the semester, parents also have opportunities to celebrate Shabbat and major Jewish holidays with other Russian-language Shabbat Club families.
